I'm a sucker for a good success story so I thought I'd share. This woman lost 300 pounds with good old fashioned diet and exercise. This goes to show that anyone can have a success story of their own with determination, hard work, and better choices. http://news.yahoo.com/video/health-15749655/woman-loses-300-pounds-the-old-fashioned-way-25535671

How to Sooth a Toothache or a Teething Baby
There is a natural way of helping alleviate a toothache or a baby's sensitive gums and that is using fresh basil leaves. They smell great; they taste great; they are natural; and they leave your mouth feeling tingly. There really is no down side to this at all.
*Pick out a fresh piece of Basil and chew it in the area of your tooth ache or area of sensitivity. You will feel the tingling almost immediately. It will only be effective temporarily so if you are having chronic dental issues, you need to see your dentist as soon as possible to avoid further dental/medical issues.

How to Naturally Get Rid of An Ear Infection
An ear infection is commonly a result of an upper respiratory infection, and can get somewhat serious if not taken care of properly. Some symptoms of an ear infection are: discomfort, fever, a thick fluid buildup in the ear, trouble sleeping, trouble eating, vomiting, and irritability. I encourage the use of natural remedies in the event that the infection is not serious. If the infection persists or worsens then seek medical care immediately.
2. Clean the ear with a Qtip until it comes out clean.
4. Apply a small amount of apple cider vinegar to another Qtip and very gently apply throughout the ear. This should help relieve non serious infection, and you should see results within a short period of time. I had applied this trick on my husband and his ear infection had completely cleared up within two hours.

How to Make a Healthy Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup
I decided to make my own recipe for chicken noodle soup after I read the nutritional information on the back of a Campbell's soup can and decided that 890mg of salt per 1/2 cup of condensed soup is just too high for my taste. Essentially the ingredients are the same, but the taste and nutrition is so much better!

Backbiting-Article from the Intenders of the Highest Good
Backbiting
It works like this: If we are talking about a neighbor, for instance, it is because we've first been entertaining thoughts about that person. As you're learning, thoughts are invisible but very potent, nonetheless. And they are received - always - by whoever we're thinking about. So, if we're thinking about being wronged by our neighbor, we are actually reinforcing our neighbor's "wrongful" behavior. We're adding to it, and here's the kicker. If, when we are backbiting or gossiping about the neighbor, we are standing in opposition to them in anyway, we are also becoming just like them.
You've seen this often. When someone is complaining about another person you know, if you look closely, you can see them beginning to act just like the person they're complaining about.
The best thing to remember in these situations is that we become like whoever (or whatever) we place our attention upon. It's the Law, whether we are aware of it or not. Once we truly understand that we're becoming like the person we're backbiting - and that we are also reinforcing their discordant behavior - shouldn't that give us pause to reconsider our own actions?
of every one of us
is to know that we are loved,
to know that our world will feed us
and give us all that we need
just as it freely surrounds us
with the air we breathe
the water we drink
the land we walk upon
Constantly giving to us
like a parent to a child
My Intention for today is:
I Intend that am rising above any behavior that isn't serving me and my fellow travelers.

Anything is Possible-Positive Thoughts
Checking my emails and reading an inspirational page from Positive Thoughts is my morning cup of coffee some mornings. I was greeted with something today that I wanted to share.
Anything is Possible
If there was ever a time to dare,
to make a difference,
to embark on something worth doing,
IT IS NOW.
Not for any grand cause, necessarily. . .
but for something that tugs at your heart,
something that's your inspiration,
something that's your dream.
You owe it to yourself
to make your days here count.
HAVE FUN.
DIG DEEP.
STRETCH.
DREAM BIG.
Know, though, that things worth doing
seldom come easy.
There will be good days.
And there will be bad days.
There will be times when you want to turn around,
pack it up,
and call it quits.
Those times tell you
that you are pushing yourself,
that you are not afraid to learn by trying.
PERSIST.
Because with an idea,
determination,
and the right tools,
you can do great things.
Let your instincts,
your intellect,
and your heart,
guide you.
TRUST.
Believe in the incredible power of the human mind.
Of doing something that makes a difference.
Of working hard.
Of laughing and hoping.
Of lazy afternoons.
Of lasting friends.
Of all the things that will cross your path this year.
The start of something new
brings the hope of something great,
ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.
I highly recommend their site if you enjoy a daily dose of positivity delivered right to your email.

'Get Service' Video
Was any of this familiar? How often are we so rushed that we don't take the time to consider the well-being of others? How often are we short with the lady at the checkout stand because the scanner won't scan an item and she has to call the manager? How about the truck driver making a safe turn and taking up two lanes of traffic to do so? Those are just a couple of examples, but I'm certain that this video probably helped bring to mind a certain situation that you've been in recently that has required a bit of your patience to deal with. How did you handle it? With grace and understanding or with intolerance and hostility? It's easier said than done at first, but patience can be learned once we start viewing others as imperfect creatures and practicing tolerance whenever something happens that is out of our control. Love comes from the understanding that we are dealing with our own trials and a level of compassion and care should be applied before we react too quickly. God bless!

Echo
A son and his father were walking on the mountains.
Suddenly, the son falls, hurts himself and screams: "AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"
To his surprise, he hears the voice repeating,
somewhere in the mountain: "AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"
Curious, he yells: "Who are you?"
He receives the answer: "Who are you?"
Angered at the response, he screams: "Coward!"
He receives the answer: "Coward!"
He looks to his father and asks: "What's going on?"
The father smiles and says: "My son, pay attention."
And then he screams to the mountain: "I admire you!"
The voice answers: "I admire you!"
Again the man screams: "You are a champion!"
The voice answers: "You are a champion!"
The boy is surprised, but does not understand.
Then the father explains: "People call this ECHO, but really this is LIFE.
It gives you back everything you say or do.
Our life is simply a reflection of our actions.
If you want more love in the world, create more love in your heart.
If you want more competence in your team, improve your competence.
This relationship applies to everything, in all aspects of life;
Life will give you back everything you have given to it.
YOUR LIFE IS NOT A COINCIDENCE.
IT'S A REFLECTION OF YOU!

Touching Love Story of a Dad and His Son-Video
This definitely makes us more aware of the need to be more patient with others. A friend of mine has a good philosophy aligned with this message. She says that she sees everyone as children, since essentially we are God's children, and she can't imagine herself getting mad at a child. How wise and how true?! I hope you take something from this video. :)

Trail Mix Recipe
I was asked what my trail mix recipe was so I thought I'd share my little tricks of eating healthy with this quick and easy snack. :) I rarely measure so these are guestimates.
Trail Mix
2 c walnuts
1 c almonds
1/4 c flaxseeds (doesn't do much for the texture, but I add it for the added Omega 3)
1 c dried cranberries
1/2 c raisins (or I just buy a mix of dried fruit)
1-2 Tbs grapeseed oil (depending on how 'nutty' I go because I like a light layer on all the nuts)
I use a special type of salt called 'biosalt', but I think Kosher salt is the next best thing. I use about 1/2 tsp.
Put it all in a container and shake it up. It tastes best whenever I chill it for a few hours and really let the flavors mix. Great for on the go snacks. Adjust the oil and salt to taste.
The grapeseed oil is great for you because it has Omega 3 and Omega 6 plus it is almost half the fat as olive oil. It's a lot lighter also so you don't need as much of it. :)

Laura Story- Blessings
A friend of mine posted this song and it's great for the grieving heart. It can be difficult to overcome the struggles and tragedies in our lives and sometimes 'Everything happens for a reason" isn't comforting enough to get us through to the next day. I pray that these words speak to you if you are the grieving heart or that you share this with those who may need it.
Here's a bible verse to help you during times of trial and pain:
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
May God bless you and keep you strong.

Paid In Full With One Glass of Milk
I received this tonight and I have not verified if the story is true or not, but it doesn't matter. This is a great story, regardless, and sends a good message. We never really give too much thought about how our selfless service to one another really leaves an impact. Something as simple as opening a door for someone or letting a person take the closer parking spot, those things add up. As you read this story, I hope you reflect on the deeds that were generously done for you recently and I pray that you become thankful and humbled by those sincere people. Don't forget to pay it forward!
The Power of Kindness
The year was 1863, on a spring day in Northern Pennsylvania. A poor boy was selling goods door to door to pay his way through school. He realized he had only a dime left, and that he was hungry. So he decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door.
Instead of a meal, he asked for a drink of water. She thought he looked hungry and so she brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it slowly, and then asked, "How much do I owe you?"
"You don't owe me anything," she replied. "Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness." He said, "Then I thank you from my heart." As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his faith in God and man was strengthened also. He had been ready to give up and quit.
Years later, that young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease.
Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, he went down the hall of the hospital to her room. Dressed in his doctor's gown, he went in to see her. He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day, he gave special attention to the case.
After a long struggle, the battle was won. Dr. Kelly requested from the business office to pass the final billing to him for approval. He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge, and the bill was sent to her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally, she looked, and something caught her attention on the side of the bill. She read these words:
"PAID IN FULL WITH ONE GLASS OF MILK..."
(Signed)
Dr. Howard Kelly*
*Dr. Howard Kelly was a distinguished physician who, in 1895, founded the Johns Hopkins Division of Gynecologic Oncology at Johns Hopkins University. According to Dr. Kelly's biographer, Audrey Davis, the doctor was on a walking trip through Northern Pennsylvania one spring day when he stopped by a farm house for a drink of water.
